Learn How And To Avoid, Being Trapped
Trapping your opponents in Poker is all about your actions and what your body language exudes. A good Poker player should always possess an observing eye. He should associate his partner’s facial expressions, speech, body language and even the bets they place. The amount that has been betted reveals the cards held by the opponent.

The first step in trapping involves careful observation. Look out for signs and signals from your opponent. When your opponent calls or raises his hands, does he look down? Grind his teeth? Stare at some object of the room? Their time of drinking or sipping may also give a clue. Is it before or after? Notice the smallest changes carefully; you may get a hint of anxiety or worry on their faces. Observe, not see.
The next step is to check their body language. Does your opponent lean back or forward? Do they fish around with their chips under some situations repeatedly? Associate their movements with the type of hand they had in that scenario. Some clever Poker players have the confidence that the ‘code’ they use, cannot be figured out by others. The important part to watch out is the betting patterns i.e. their bet amounts, their betting hand, etc. you may even associate a hand strength with a particular range of bet. If you crack the pattern of your opponent, say, when he behaves a set way with respect to having a good hand, you can be reasonably sure of having touched their weak point.

Establishing The Trap
Establishing a trap will cause you to lose a little money, but the final assault will be yours. Establishing a bogus trap pattern is easy and fun, too. Drop subtle signs when doing different activities and during different situations. Your opponents may seize this opportunity and may trap you by using your patterns. This will make you more confident in setting the bait. Wait until you get a good hand, and do the actions you had been doing when bluffing or when you had a lower strength hand. You will fool your opponents into believing that they have you, and they will bet the max, only to lose to you.
Slow Play
Apart from the psychological trap, there are some other traps that need to be looked out for. Among them the most common types of traps are the slow play till the rise on the river and the check raise.
Since your image is that of a bettor, your opponent calls and checks your bet. You must play extremely cautious, as your opponent will be expecting you to try and trap. As your opponent checks on the turn, you do it if you are smart and you get a final card for free. Your opponent may either lead out and would want to capitalize on those few hands he played or would check again, expecting you to bet again. You should be smart enough to make out that his checking instead of leading out is quite abnormal for him.

It is advisable to check if you see an over-aggressive player checking after a pre-flop.
Check Raising
Checking your hand with an objective to raising on the same round after the opponent bets is called as check raising. Check raising is quite tricky and deceitful. There are two conditions required to check-raise the value.
- You should think that you have the best hand but not a great hand that slow play can be proper.
- You must be sure that the person behind you will bet if you check.
Your way of betting and raising checks is dependant on your hand strength as also the position of other players you are expecting to bet. When you have a reasonably solid hand you can coax your opponents to call a double bet since you would like to wipe them out. With an exceptional hand, like three aces, you may choose to coax players into a single bet and then another single bet. Letting them in doesn’t matter here, since you are already a huge favorite over them by now.
Poker Psychology
Trapping involves the psychological trap and the deceitful trap. It is up to you to decide. Most people do not support the check-raise trap, as it is quite tricky. The best way to trap a person is to deceive him psychologically.
